How a Brooklyn-based Pasta Company Made the Switch From Styrofoam
At Periwrap, we work with clients from a diverse range of industries to develop custom packaging that fits each business’ unique needs. In the following case study, we share how we helped a beloved frozen pasta company transition away from Styrofoam — preserving product quality, lowering costs, and reinforcing their reputation for quality and care.
A beloved frozen pasta company with deep Brooklyn roots was hesitant to mess with what was working: Styrofoam coolers. For years, they’d used them to ship their handmade ravioli and Italian specialties across the country. But with sustainability top-of-mind and shipping costs rising, they knew they had to evolve.
The challenge was clear — ravioli is light and tricky to keep frozen over long distances, especially without dry ice. They needed a packaging solution that could maintain temperature, look professional on delivery, and still reflect their brand's quality.
We worked with them to test and transition to our Polycool liners, made from 85% post-consumer recycled content and fully curbside recyclable. Not only did the liners meet performance standards, but they also offered flexibility across different box sizes. We helped them design branded heavy-duty shipping boxes that looked great and held up in transit — no more collapsing corners or soggy arrivals.
With our fresh packaging solution, the pasta stayed cold, the packaging stayed sharp, and the customer experience stayed delicious — right down to the last bite.
